Event Details

It’s time to showcase your talent. You will have four minutes to perform. The categories of your act may include but are not limited to dancing, singing, playing an instrument/instruments, acting, poetry, comedy, drama, pantomiming, magic etc.

Please note that the acts and themes must be appropriate for the University. Any act that contains profanity or vulgar lyrics, sexual language, suggestive sexual themes, nudity, violence, pyrotechnics, open flames or any other dangerous additions will be disqualified.

All current HKBU students are welcome, and you could enter the contest as a soloist or in group for not more than 10 performers.

You will earn bonus points if your act is in group with mixing local and international student(s).

Finalists chosen by a panel of judges will compete in final round by live performance for the grand prizes on 19 February 2019 (Tuesday), from 19:00 to 20:30 at Podium, 3/F AAB, Shaw Campus, HKBU!

 
Eligibility

 

  • All current HKBU students are welcome to participate.
  • Either solo or group entry is accepted, in which not more than 10 performers in a group.
  • Bonus points will be given to group entry mixing local and with international student(s).

How to Apply

  • Register online on or before 1 February 2019, 11:59pm (Friday, Hong Kong Time). Late entry will not be considered.
  • You should submit your application along with a video in mp4 format of your act, which could be uploaded to YouTube / Vimeo / Google Drive / Dropbox or any other online platforms.
  • For singing, any supplementary voice polishing app is not allowed to be used in the video.
  • Once the online registration form has been submitted, any update or amendment is not allowed.
  • Application that failed to submit the act video in the online registration form will not be marked.
  • Contestants’ correct and true personal information must be presented in the online registration form.

  • Originality;
  • Talent;
  • Charisma;
  • Showmanship; and
  • Creativity.

A panel of judges for first round will review all video entries and select up to 10 finalists based on above listed criteria. Finalists will receive an email notification on 8 February 2019 (Friday). All decisions of the judges are final.

Rules and Regulations

  • During final round, finalists must perform the same acts with the same person(s) in live as the video submitted in first round. For absence(s) of any performer(s) in the group entry, corresponding finalist team must inform the Organising Committee one (1) day before final round contest, i.e. by 18 February 2019, 18:00, and is subject to the approval of the Organising Committee. Please note that only strong reason with supporting document(s) will be accepted.
  • A panel of judges for final round will choose the Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes based on finalists’ live performance covering originality, talent, charisma, showmanship and creativity. All decisions of the judges are final.
  • Audience Choice Award will be based on votes from the audiences.
  • By submitting the online application form, all participants acknowledge that they have read through the contest Rules and Regulations and agreed to automatically grant the permission to the Organising Committee and its successors on the usage of their photographs and/or videos submitted in first round or taken in final round, as well as printing their names for advertising, promotional and publicity purposes.
  • Rules and Regulations are subject to change at the sole discretion of the Organising Committee.
