Management faculty receives Best Paper Award

img Professor Ji Li and PhD student Miss Jieying Xu from Department of Management received Best Paper Award at the 9th Asia Academy of Management Conference and 8th Taiwan Academy of Management Joint Conference. The conference, jointly organised by Asia Academy of Management and Taiwan Academy of Management, was held from 22 to 24 June 2015 at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, with the theme “Innovation for and from Asian Emerging Markets”.

Professor Li’s paper, “The Joint Effects of Societal Culture and Individual Values on Job Attribute Preferences: Evidence from Eight Nations,” was co-authored by Miss Jieying Xu, Dr. Chris Chu from the University of Surrey, Ms. Tao Liu from the Southwest University of China and Dr. Hong Zhu from the Tongji University.

The paper looks into how cultural values at the societal level and personal values at the individual level affect job selection decisions, comparing samples from East Asian collectivistic cultures and major Western individualistic cultures.
