Twelve MBA alumni joined “The 4th Asia Pacific Business School Desert Challenge” during 30 April to 3 May 2015 at the Tengger Desert, Inner Mongolia. The challenge had attracted over 800 participants from 48 business schools in the Asia region. It was the first time HKBU MBA alumni joined the challenge as an observing team, which comprised of alumni from Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen graduated from 2002 to 2014.

During the 2.5-day challenge, the team was exposed to the scorching sun, strong sandstorm and bearing of heavy backpack. Without the fear of hardship, the team defeated the harsh environment and excelled themselves. “During the challenge, we have to fight against the harsh environment with no water and electricity supply, not to mention the signal for cell phone. We have to pitch the tent, cure blisters and do stretching together; we enjoy watching rainbows, counting stars, putting lanterns and chatting together …… What we treasure most are the friendship, unforgettable experience and the immersion of the splendours of nature.”
Moreover, the team also created some records, “The age of our team is the highest among the competing teams with an average age of 38.5 and the highest age of 50. We complete the competition altogether in the first time. We have demonstrated the strength of vegetarians with our camp being the most environmental friendly and tidy.”

Although the challenge has completed, the team would not stop as it has awarded the qualification to be one of the official teams for next year’s challenge. They would keep on moving to face the challenges ahead.

“Asia Pacific Business School Desert Challenge” is a competitive experiential cultural event organised by MBA students from top business schools in the Asia Pacific region.

Participating teams have to walk through 60-kilometer desert to experience the visions of the Challenge: environmental protection, cooperation, persistence and responsibility.
