Yesterday (14 April), alumnus Dr. Jacinto Tong, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Gale Well Group Ltd., spoke to an audience of around 400 at the Alumni Sharing Forum co-organized by Alumni Affairs Office and the School of Business.

Dr. Tong discussed his recent news-hitting prediction about the bursting of the bubble of low-priced residential properties. Prof. Albert Chan, President of HKBU, delivered welcome remarks at the event and reiterated the importance of having established alumni like Dr. Tong to speak in the University. Prof. Chan also took the opportunity to thank Dr. Tong again for his recent donation to the University.

In February 2015, Dr. Tong revealed on his blog that he predicted there would be a severe collapse in the prices of low-priced properties, generating explosive public responses and attracting extensive media coverage. Dr. Tong explained that the growth in the number of second / third or even fourth mortgage in financing companies had reached an alarming level, and foresaw that it would be the main nucleus for the bursting of the price bubble. Dr. Tong also shared tips on property investment and his views on the prospect of the local property market.
