Alumni Joson Shiu and Kyle Ngai (Information Systems and e-Business Management concentration, BBA ‘14, together with four team members from different sectors won the $300,000 FOR NEW VENTURE Business Plan Competition organised by the Knowledge Transfer Office of the Hong Kong Baptist University.

The winning team developed a platform, Maboo, to help part-time job hunters to search for jobs and to build online portfolio. "We notice that there is a growing trend towards part-time jobs and project-based organisations," said Joson. "However, it is difficult for employers to recruit qualified temporary workers, as there is a lack of information for them to evaluate the capabilities of part-timers."

The team hence came up with the idea of developing a part-time job searching platform where employers can acquire and assess the capabilities of part-timers. "Part-time job can be a good way for young people to prove their capabilities and to enhance their career development," said Joson.

The winning team was awarded HK$50,000 cash prize and offered trans-border exchange opportunity, mentorship and one-year free admission to the Incubation Offices.
