School of Business welcomes new members to the Beta Gamma Sigma society HKBU Chapter28 Mar, 2012
On March 28, the School of Business held the Second Induction Ceremony for the HKBU Chapter of the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) society during which Mr. Adrian Li, Deputy Chief Executive of the Bank of East Asia Limited, was inducted as a chapter honoree in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the financial services sector. The School also officially welcomed more than 70 students as new members of the chapter in the ceremony.
In his welcome remarks, Prof. Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research and Development), said: “As one of the top five per cent of business schools worldwide that have received full accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, the School of Business has established the HKBU Chapter of the BGS society to recognise the high academic achievement of our top students.
Prof. Stephen Cheung, Dean of Business, introduced Mr. Li and extended his gratitude for his presence in the ceremony. A dialogue session chaired by Prof. Cheung saw Mr. Li engage with the students over a range of popular topics such as the future development of e-banking, the integration of the local economy with that of the mainland, the internationalisation of the Renminbi, etc.
Mr. Li also encouraged the students to be well prepared for the job market. "As globalisation advances, candidates who speak more languages and those who are more conscious of cultural differences will definitely be more competitive in the workplace. We should also keep a close eye on how technology may affect the way that our economy operates,” he said.
