From HR management to organisation development





 “Alumni Sharing Seminar cum MSc in Strategic HRM Briefing: From HR Management to Organisational Development” was successfully organized on 6 Jan 2015. Mr. Alvin Leung, a graduate of MScSHRM in 2011, who is now the Deputy General Manager, HRD Division Chief, Intelligence SMC Consulting Ltd., was invited to share the way of transforming human resources management to drive organisational development.

Alvin believed that a HR practitioner could be a strategic business partner leading to better practices for organisational change and development. “HR management has to respond quickly in dynamic business environments.  Managers have to anticipate change, see and judge things differently, then they are able to influence organisation performance through building the workforce required to achieve business goals and directions,” said Alvin. It is important for HR practitioner to understand thoroughly the company’s philosophy and mission so as to make the right judgment and decision in different HR aspects such as recruitment and staff development.

Alvin also recounted his school life in HKBU when taking the MScSHRM programme. He recalled that he met people from different parts of the world, which enabled him to have a better understanding of the market and to gain global vision.
