Two students from the HKBU School of Business were awarded for a unique opportunity to experience leadership first-hand through the territory-wide “Shadow a CEO Programme” organised by SCMP’s (South China Morning Post) Classified Post.

Ming Kong, a final year student of BBA (Human Resources Management) and a startup co-founder, chose to shadow Mr. Albert Wong, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP). “As an insider of the startup space, I share the same vision as HKSTP’s in growing the fame of the startup community of Hong Kong. I’ve gained more understanding about the role of governmental support in accelerating startup development in Hong Kong.” Ming also had the chance to acquire more knowledge about B2B marketing through meeting with a couple of fast-growing startups to learn about their innovative solution showcase for potential corporate partners.

Chinenye Egbuna, a postgraduate student of MSc in Applied Accounting & Finance programme from Nigeria, shadowed Mr. Olivier Blum, Chief Human Resources Officer of Schneider Electric, to have a glimpse into an office with a truly diversified workforce. “As an international student who’s new to Hong Kong, this opportunity allowed me to better visualise how I can potentially apply my knowledge to the operations of a multinational (MNC) company.” Chinenye also participated in a brainstorm session with the design team to come up with strategies and ideas for Christmas promotions and attended a networking event to build industry connections.
