Head's Message

Welcome to the website of the Department of Accountancy, Economics and Finance (AEF), School of Business. Launched in January 2023, the Department is committed to providing students with quality whole-person business education and conducting impactful business research with and for society. The Department offers a variety of academic programmes, including the BBA (Hons) Accounting Concentration, BBA (Hons) Economics & Data Analytics Concentration, BBA (Hons) Finance Concentration, Master of Accountancy, MSc in Applied Accounting and Finance, MSc in Applied Economics, MSc Data Analytics and Business Economics, MSc in Finance (FinTech and Financial Analytics) and MSc in Corporate Governance and Compliance. The Department also participates in the MBA, DBA, and research postgraduate programmes (MPhil and PhD) in the School of Business. Broad knowledge, professional skills and dynamic pedagogy are emphasised in our teaching and learning activities. Our graduates work at accounting firms, financial institutes, business firms, and governmental and non-profit organisations in Hong Kong and Mainland China, and can pursue continuing studies at advanced levels.

Currently, the Department has over 50 full-time academic and teaching staff. Our faculty members conduct world-class accounting, economics and finance research and publish extensively in prestigious academic journals. Our research main interests include financial accounting, auditing, taxation, digital economy, labour economics, political economy, asset pricing, corporate finance, and ESG. Against the backdrop of the departmental restructuring, we strive for taking interdisciplinary research that blends the knowledge at the research frontier from various fields. Our teaching staff mostly have rich business experience and are actively involved in professional and consultancy work.
