Head's Message

The Department of Management, Marketing, and Information Systems at HKBU is dedicated to being a leader in whole-person business education and a centre of research excellence. The department has around 50 academic and professional experts, providing cutting-edge knowledge and professional skills for our students. Our faculty members possess a comprehensive portfolio of expertise in the fields of organizational behavior, human resource management, strategic management, consumer behavior, quantitative marketing, strategic retail management, and management information systems. We have carefully designed our programmes to create a rewarding learning environment for both our undergraduate and post-graduate students. The department has two well-established centers –Center for Human Resources Strategy and Development and the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center –that strengthen the linkage between the department and the business community. Our post-graduate level Human Resource Management program (MHRM) has obtained the UK Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) accreditation. We also offer the MSc in Entrepreneurship and Global Marketing (MScEGM) with a double-degree pathway collaboration with Grenoble École de Management in France, and the MSc in Marketing for the Creative Economy (MCE), in partnership with the Department and the Academy of Visual Arts in HKBU, in cultivating creative and cultural leaders equipped with skills for retail market, entrepreneurship, creative industries, and arts administration and management.

Our faculty members are also dedicated to producing world-class research. We regularly publish in top-tier journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of International Business Studies, among many others. The vision of the department is to be a leading research group in Asia in the fields of management, marketing, and information systems.
