HKBU Virtual Run

The HKBU School of Business organises its first-ever Virtual Run, a running activity, aims to promote closer integration and partnership in the HKBU community through completing a team running Challenge in a month. All HKBU current students and faculty members are welcome to join the Virtual Run anytime and anywhere between 6 February and 7 March 2021 (30 days) for grabbing a souvenir and a series of prizes.

Registration Procedure

  1. Find a teammate, create a team name and select one of the Run Challenges.
  2. Fill in an online registration form individually.
  3. Receive a confirmation email with an assigned team number from the Event Organiser within 2 working days after completing the registration successfully.
  4. Collect the event souvenir.
  5. Download the Strava App & create an account. The account name should start with the team no. assigned by the Event Organiser, then followed by the participant’s English name.
  6. Join the designated Strava Running Club created by the Event Organiser.
 

Rules and Regulations

  1. The Virtual Run event will last for 30 days from 12:00 AM on 6 February 2021 Saturday to 11:59 PM on 7 March 2021 Sunday (Hong Kong Time).
  2. Registration is based on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. A souvenir, phone armband sleeve, with different sizes (small/ medium/ large) and colours (Pink/ Blue/ Black/ Grey/ Orange/ Fluorescent Yellow) will be distributed to each participant on a first-come, first-served basis. Late registration may not get the preferred size or colour.
  4. All HKBU students and faculty members are eligible to join the race.
  5. Participants should join and complete the race as a team.
  6. Each team must consist of two members (two HKBU students or one HKBU student plus one HKBU faculty member), and each participant can only sign up for one team.
  7. Participant should fill in an online registration form individually. All the information provided by the participant in the registration form must be true and accurate. Otherwise, the registration may be declined.
  8. Race quota is non-transferable.
  9. Upon completing the registration, the participant is deemed to have accepted all terms and conditions of the event, the official rules as stipulated and to those that may be later introduced by the Event Organiser.
  10. Members in the same team should select the same Challenge (20K/ 40K) in the registration form. For the 20K Challenge, each team is required to run a minimum of 20 km, and each team member has to finish at least 8 km. For the 40K Challenge, each team is required to run a minimum of 40 km, and each team member has to finish at least 16 km. Participants can complete their race distance by several running sessions. However, each running session should be finished with an average pace within 8 min/km. And, runners should run at least 1 km without stopping each time. Running records that fail to satisfy these requirements will not be counted.
  11. Participants will not be allowed to change the selected Challenge upon completing the registration.
  12. Participants must download the Strava App, the designated GPS-enabled mobile app, for recording the mileage gained. The account name created at the Strava App should start with the team number assigned by the Event Organiser, then followed by the participant’s English name. Meanwhile, each team member is required to join a designated Strava Running Club created by the Event Organiser before 6 February 2021. 
  13. Each team member should upload his/ her screen-capture record with a selfie to the designated Strava Running Club within 15 minutes after each Run. Otherwise, the running record will not be counted.
  14. Each running record uploaded must clearly show the running date, distance (in km), duration (in minutes), route and average pace. However, manual entries, treadmill and indoor runs will not be counted.
  15. Duplicated records will be voided. Only one record will be accepted and verified by the Event Organiser. The Event Organiser reserves the right to decline any inauthentic running record. 
  16. All running records have to be uploaded to the designated Strava Running Club within 12:00 AM on 6 February 2021 Saturday to 11:59 PM on 7 March 2021 Sunday (Hong Kong Time). Running records uploaded other than the said period will be disqualified. Once uploading a running record to the designated Strava Running Club, the Runner Leaderboard in the Club will be updated, so that runners can know the race status.
  17. The Event Organiser will check and verify the running records regularly. During the event period, a team leaderboard will be released every Monday in the Strava Running Club by the Event Organiser.
  18. Participants must be responsible for the integrity of their running records. Any cheating behavior of participants may result in disqualification of his/ her whole team.
  19. By taking part, participants agree that any event footage and photos uploaded may be used by the Event Organiser for marketing purpose during and after the event without prior notification.
  20. The final result will be announced on 9 March 2021 Tuesday in the Strava Running Club. A notification email will be sent to all awardees. The prizes will be delivered to the awardees by email or by post within three weeks after the result announcement.
  21. All Rules and Regulations are subject to interpretation by the Event Organiser whose decision shall be final.
  22. Every participant needs to be aware that his/ her participation in the Virtual Run may be physically demanding and may involve a certain amount of risk. In choosing to participate, every participant acknowledges that he/ she accepts all risks associated with taking part in the Virtual Run and that such acceptance is a precondition to his/ her participation.
  23. The Event Organiser will not be liable for any injuries, mishaps, sickness or loss/ damage to personal property that may occur during the event.
