Beta Gamma Sigma HKBU Chapter Holds the 13th Induction Ceremony

At the 13th Induction Ceremony of the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Hong Kong Baptist University Chapter, held on 14 April 2023, 90 outstanding students, graduates and faculty members of the School of Business were honoured with BGS lifetime membership.
Prof. Ed Snape, Dean of HKBU School of Business, welcomed guests and honourees by highlighting the School of Business’s commitment to creating a better business environment through mission-driven engagement, and to equipping students with the requisite skills for a successful business career. “Being one of the 600+ BGS chapters around the globe, HKBU School of Business is proud to provide our students with such a valuable opportunity to connect with top business graduates and business leaders worldwide.
Mr. Patrick Tsang Shun-fuk, CEO of Deloitte China was recognised as Chapter Honouree for his significant contributions in the development of the professional services in China and his commitment to serving the country and the community, especially as a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. A highly respected leader in the accounting sector, Mr. Tsang possesses a deep understanding of the Greater China region, with over three decades of professional experience in supporting Chinese companies in their local and global expansion, and in advising multinational companies in establishing their footholds in the country.
A proven visionary, Mr. Tsang moved to Deloitte’s Shanghai office in 1995, becoming one of the first batch of north-bound Hongkongers working on the Mainland. The decision was right at a time when China had become a major growth engine in the world with many opportunities awaiting. Mr. Tsang encourages students should seize the opportunities arising from the Greater Bay Area, and gain first-hand experience and knowledge of its development. Mr. Tsang also motivates students to embrace the differences between the Mainland and Hong Kong, and do what Hong Kong people is good at, that is, be innovative and always get prepared to advance with the times.
Mr. Tsang, an alumnus of the School and a member of the School’s Advisory Committee, has been a key driver of Deloitte’s talent development over the years. In 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Deloitte and HKBU to develop future-ready talent with multidisciplinary capabilities. He has also been long committed to spearheading Deloitte China’s corporate social responsibility. Under his leadership, the company has launched initiatives that focus on China's Rural Revitalization strategy and on the “dual carbon” goals, aiming to empower rural talents and to drive responsible climate choices and actions. He trusts that with a global mindset, a sound understanding of emerging technologies and business trends, and creative, multi-perspective thinking, students and graduates will be blessed with more future opportunities in the new era for robust and sustainable growth.
Dr. Frederick Yim, Chapter Advisor of BGS HKBU Chapter and Associate Professor in the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems, was heartened to learn of the shared commitment by Mr. Tsang and the HKBU School of Business – to develop young talents’ ‘future skills’. “Mr. Tsang has been a leading advocate to creating a better and sustainable business and social environment for future talents in the wider GBA economic development, while the School is committed to inspiring business practices and nurturing responsible business leaders through quality business education and research in specific strategic areas including business ethics and corporate sustainability. We hope this prestigious membership will be the start of setting our students up for future success.”
