Prof. Xu HUANG, Associate Dean (Research & Impact), Prof. Christy CHEUNG, and Prof. Viswanath VENKATESH, Chair Professors of the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems of the HKBU School of Business, have been named among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists by Stanford University for 2024. This esteemed recognition highlights their exceptional contributions to the field of Business & Management and Information Systems, reflecting HKBU School of Business’s dedication to fostering research excellence and global impact.

Prof. Xu HUANG is renowned for his extensive research that span various fields, including employee well-being, cross-cultural psychology, and management issues in China. His work has been widely published in top-tier international journals, including Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of International Business Studies, and Journal of Management.

Prof. Christy CHEUNG is a multi-award-winning scholar with research expertise in technology use and well-being, social media, data analytics, and IS security. In addition to holding the position of Chair Professor in Information Systems and Digital Innovation Management, she also serves as the Director of the Research Office at Hong Kong Baptist University. Prof. CHEUNG was conferred the title “RGC Senior Research Fellow” in the Research Grants Council (RGC) Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS). With an impressive track record of scholarly work published in grade A journals, she has also been the Editor-in-Chief of Internet Research since 2016 and the President of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) Hong Kong Chapter since 2017.

Prof. Viswanath VENKATESH is an international scholar in business and economics, focusing on the diffusion of technology in organisations and society. His work has appeared in leading journals across the fields of information systems, organisational behaviour, psychology, marketing, and operations management, such as Management Science, MIS Quarterly, and Information Systems Research.

This annual ranking is based on the “Updated Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators”, compiled and announced annually by the notable research team led by Prof. John P.A. IOANNIDIS from Stanford University. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. The rankings are calculated based on standardised information on citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.
