Over the action-packed weekend of 17th – 18th August, 2024, more than 110 MBA students from Shenzhen and Guangzhou gathered at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) for the class opening ceremony and orientation. Themed “Collective Wisdom, Fresh Inspiration” the event commenced with an inspiring speech by Dr. Monique Shui-ki WAN, Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate Studies). Dr. WAN celebrated the spirit of “going beyond” by sharing the triumphant story of HKBU student CHEUNG Ka-long’s Olympic victory, perfectly aligning with HKBU’s motto of “Faith and Perseverance”. She reminded students that belief must be paired with action.

The orientation featured a blend of practical seminars from industry experts, dynamic team-building activities, and insightful alumni sharing sessions, all designed to build connections and sharpen business skills. Prof. YUAN Denghua, Associate Dean, School of Business of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and Miss XU Yifan, Director of the Center of Continuing & Professional Education at Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen Academy, also delivered motivational speeches to the new cohort.

The grand finale was a joyous welcome dinner, brimming with excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead. The class opening ceremony and orientation marked the beginning of a journey filled with learning, growth, and success for the new MBA students at the HKBU School of Business.
