MHRM Students Explore the Synergy of Tradition and Innovation in the Greater Bay Area

In the spirit of blending tradition with innovation, the HKBU School of Business curated a field trip for the Master of Human Resource Management (HRM) students from 25th April to 26th April, 2024. Led by Prof. Liqun WEI, Professor, Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems, the group of over 40 budding professionals embarked on a journey to explore two distinguished establishments in the Greater Bay Area – the BY-HEALTH Transparent Factory (湯臣倍健透明工廠) in Zhuhai and the Juxiangyuan (咀香園) museum in Zhongshan.

The field trip started at the BY-HEALTH Transparent Factory, a global frontrunner in the Vitamin & Dietary Supplements industry, renowned for its stringent quality control measures. The students delved into the heart of manufacturing process, witnessing the seamless integration of production stages from raw material storage to the final delivery. This behind-the-scenes tour offered a thorough insight into the company’s innovative technologies, showcasing its dedication to health and wellness.

On the following day, the students were immersed in the rich cultural tapestry of Juxiangyuan (咀香園), a name synonymous with traditional confectionery artistry for over a century. The museum visit was more than a mere historical and business model overview; it was an interactive experience where students donned their aprons to craft the iconic almond cake, a delicacy that has delighted generations.

This educational journey bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, while also highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage amid technological progress. The students returned not only with cherished memories but also with an enriched perspective on how businesses can integrate traditional cultural values with modern advancements.
