On 15th April, 2025, the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Chapter at HKBU welcomed 80 new lifetime members — 79 high-achieving students and 1 exceptional faculty member from the School of Business at its 15th Induction Ceremony.

Prof. Han ZHANG, Dean of HKBU School of Business, warmly welcomed the new members, emphasising the significance of BGS membership as a mark of excellence and a gateway to a global network of business leaders. He highlighted that only the top 10% of business students are invited to join BGS, making it the highest honour a student at an AACSB-accredited institution can achieve.

Prof. ZHANG also celebrated recent student achievements, where these accomplishments reflect the school's commitment to practical learning experiences and technology integration, showcasing the students' ability to merge knowledge with market needs.

Following Prof. ZHANG's remarks, the ceremony proceeded to honour this year's Chapter Honouree, Ms. Janis TAM, Managing Director of Swire Resources Limited. Ms. TAM, a visionary leader in the retail industry, has been instrumental in the strategic development and management of Swire Resources, which oversees a diverse portfolio of international sports, outdoor, footwear, and lifestyle brands across Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China. Under her leadership, Swire Resources has successfully launched numerous international brands, contributing to the healthy and contemporary living through excellent products and services.

In her acceptance speech, Ms. TAM captivated the audience with her insights on leadership, centred around the theme “Discovering Leadership Potential: Insights for Young Talent”.  She shared compelling stories of overcoming challenges while managing Swire Resources’ diverse brand portfolio and navigating the complexities of post-pandemic transformations. She highlighted how embracing change can create exciting opportunities.

Ms. TAM also introduced the concept of “Return on Pain,” encouraging attendees to turn adversity into innovation by reframing challenges. Her message resonated deeply, inspiring students to view challenges as stepping stones to success and to continuously seek out new ways to grow and excel in their careers.
