The HKBU School of Business has started 2025 with a renewed commitment to fostering connections across its MBA alumni community in Mainland China. Led by newly appointed Dean, Prof. Han ZHANG, the School hosted a series of impactful events designed to deepen alumni engagement, promote professional development, and strengthen collaboration between academia, industry, and government.
On 3rd January, the HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association organised a landmark event under the theme of “One School, Two Campuses” in Zhuhai. This initiative brought together a diverse group of MBA students, alumni, and industry leaders, offering a unique blend of industry insights, academic exchange, and professional networking.
The delegation, led by Dean Prof. Han ZHANG and Dr. Monique Shui-ki WAN, Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate Studies) and Director of the MBA Programme, began their journey with a visit to Zhuhai Eulong Foods Limited, founded by alumna Ms. Suping WU (MBA 2014). Participants were given an exclusive look at how the company integrates traditional food production techniques with modern management principles, gaining valuable insights into operational efficiency and market competitiveness.
The group then visited Meizu Technology, a leading player in mobile internet technology, where they explored the company’s advancements in smart tech innovations and brand-building strategies. The day continued with a tour of Kingsoft, a pioneer in software and game development, where alumni were inspired by the perseverance of its founders and their vision, which has driven the company’s success and innovation in the digital era.
The event also included a visit to the UIC, where participants engaged in a lively exchange of ideas with Professor Adolf NG, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management. MBA students explored opportunities for further collaboration with the campus, strengthening the ties between the two institutions and fostering connections for future initiatives.
The day concluded with a celebratory dinner, during which Dean Prof. Han ZHANG presented Ms. Suping WU with the HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association’s Lifetime Honour Award for her exceptional contributions to the alumni community.
Following the Zhuhai visit, the School hosted the second session of its “MBA HUB” alumni sharing series on 4th January at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in Guangzhou. Attended by approximately 120 MBA students and alumni, the event served as a powerful platform for knowledge sharing and professional development.
Dean Prof. Han ZHANG opened the session with an inspiring address, sharing his own personal stories to encourage students to pursue their dreams and embrace challenges. He expressed his admiration for the achievements of the MBA community, highlighting their strong sense of social responsibility and the deep bonds among alumni that define the HKBU network. He reinforced that these engagements marked a meaningful introduction to the vibrant and dynamic HKBU MBA alumni network. “The strength of our community lies in our ability to connect, collaborate, and innovate,” he remarked. “These events exemplify our commitment to creating opportunities for our alumni to thrive and contribute to the broader society.”
The highlight of the session was a thought-provoking presentation by alumnus Mr. Zhenhong SUI (MBA 2021) on “How can enterprises uncover their internal data assets?” His insights underscored the strategic importance of data-driven decision-making and its transformative potential in achieving business success.
As the HKBU School of Business looks ahead, it remains steadfast in its mission to empower its alumni, bridge the gap between education and industry, and drive impactful change in the region and beyond.
