In late 2025, the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) hosted an engaging workshop titled “HKIB Talk: Your Fast Track to the Banking Industry”, aimed at providing around 40 taught postgraduate students with insights into pursuing careers in banking.

Dr Kate Kwan, Senior Manager of Programme Engagement and Strategic Partnership at HKIB, emphasised the importance of professional qualifications in the industry. Alongside, Mr Sam Pun, Deputy Head of Branch Business and Sales Management, Personal Banking and Wealth Management Department at Bank of China (Hong Kong), shared his expertise on current trends and opportunities within the banking sector.

The workshop included an informative introduction to HKIB, a comprehensive overview of the banking industry, and insights from experienced bankers. Participants learnt about HKIB membership benefits, banking professional qualifications programmes, and modular exemptions, which can fast-track their journey to becoming HKIB affiliates.

Subsequently, a Q&A session allowed attendees to engage with the speakers and clarify their career aspirations. This event not only highlighted the support available for aspiring banking professionals but also reinforced the School of Business and HKIB's goals to spearhead career development in Hong Kong’s dynamic financial sector.
