The HKBU School of Business (the School) successfully hosted the Hong Kong-Macau Junior Accounting Faculty Conference 2025 on 20 September 2025, reinforcing its active role in fostering academic excellence and collaboration. Co-organised by the School’s Department of Accountancy, Economics and Finance in partnership with the Hong Kong Academic Accounting Association (HKAAA), the event gathered emerging scholars from nine leading universities for a dynamic day of intellectual exchange at the HKBU campus.

The conference served as a platform to empower early-career researchers in accounting from Hong Kong and Macau. A total of nine cutting-edge research presentations were delivered, covering hot topics such as blockchain spillovers, financial disclosure, sustainability, and labour mobility. These sessions showcased the innovative work being conducted by junior faculty members in the region.

Through engaging presentations and constructive feedback, participants gained valuable insights and built meaningful connections with the scholar community for future collaborative opportunities.

Distinguished junior scholars in accounting from the School were joined by peers from (in alphabetical order):

  • City University of Hong Kong (CityU)
  • Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
  • Lingnan University (LU)
  • The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)
  • The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK)
  • The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)
  • The University of Hong Kong (HKU)
  • University of Macau (UM)

A highlight of the event was the keynote address by Prof. Jeffrey NG from HKU, who offered useful guidance on securing competitive General Research Fund (GRF) and Early Career Scheme (ECS) grants from the Research Grants Council (RGC)—a crucial skill for researchers at this stage of their careers.

The School extends its heartfelt appreciation to all presenters, moderators, and participants for their contributions to the success of this year’s conference.
