In May, Master of Science in Business Management (MScBM) students embarked on an enriching journey across the Netherlands, Germany, and France, gaining valuable insights into the global business landscape and diverse cultures. Designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, these study trips combined company visits, seminars, and immersive cultural experiences. By engaging directly with business leaders and experiencing different cultures, students deepened their understanding of how business practices and values vary internationally.

The adventure began in the Netherlands, where students explored Amsterdam and Rotterdam. At Royal Flora Holland, they witnessed the renowned flower auctions, gaining unique perspectives on the country’s thriving horticultural sector and the complexities of the auction process. Visits to APM Terminals Rotterdam offered an inside look at large-scale port operations and logistics at one of Europe’s most important economic hubs. The Dutch experience was further enriched with visits to traditional windmills and opportunities to engage with local culture.

In Germany, students explored Frankfurt, a global hub for finance, innovation, and sustainability. They engaged with experts at the Deutsche Bundesbank and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, deepening their understanding of Germany’s pivotal role in global financial markets. A visit to BASF, a leading chemical company, provided valuable insights into cutting-edge research and sustainability initiatives shaping the future of the industry.

Meanwhile, another group of students delved into the world of French luxury in Paris. By visiting iconic destinations such as Place Vendôme, Samaritaine, and Galeries Lafayette, they uncovered the rich history and business strategies behind France’s legendary luxury brands. The experience was further enhanced by a hands-on French cooking class at Le Cordon Bleu, offering students a delicious taste of French culture.

Reflecting on these diverse experiences, students found the study trips to be truly eye-opening. The journeys deepened their knowledge, strengthened bonds among peers, and heightened both their cross-cultural awareness and understanding of sustainability issues. The insights and skills gained have not only enriched their academic journey but also inspired them to approach international business challenges with creativity and openness. These immersive experiences fostered critical thinking, adaptability, and cross-cultural communication — essential qualities for aspiring global leaders in today’s interconnected world.
