Shining a Light on Impact: Prof. Ting CHEN Recognised as Rising Star

Prof. Ting CHEN, Associate Professor, Department of Accountancy, Economics and Finance (AEF) at HKBU School of Business, was one of four faculty members selected university-wide as “Rising Stars” to share their research journeys at HKBU’s Research Mingle, themed “Rising Stars Behind the Breakthroughs” on 24th April, 2025. This dynamic event brought together scholars from various disciplines, fostering connections and inspiring the next generation of researchers.
Each Rising Star offered insights into their unique journey to research prominence, sharing thought-provoking perspectives with the audience. Prof. CHEN illuminated the critical need for research grounded in real-world challenges, emphasising the importance of robust data analysis. Sharing her own experiences, she candidly discussed the often-unseen hurdles of managing multiple projects, acknowledging that not every research path leads to immediate success. Her advice to aspiring researchers emphasised strategic workload management and the importance of seizing opportunities while avoiding overcommitment, which can hinder collaboration and responsiveness.
Dean, Prof. Han ZHANG of the School of Business also attended the event, demonstrating the School’s strong support for impactful research. The engaging panel discussion, expertly moderated by Prof. Zhong BU, Dean of the School of Communication, provided a vibrant forum for scholars and PhD students to learn valuable lessons in resilience, innovation, and perseverance from HKBU's rising research stars.
