HKBU School of Business hosted the 16th Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Induction Ceremony on 21 April 2026, welcoming 107 outstanding business students and one faculty member, Professor Kimmy Chan, Associate Dean (Research & Impact), into the international honour society.

The ceremony highlighted the School’s academic excellence and student achievements. In 2025, four accountancy students and graduates were honoured by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) for their academic performance and leadership potential. In the same year, three student teams earned top awards at entrepreneurship and innovation competitions across the Greater Bay Area, showcasing creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

This year’s Chapter Honouree, Ms Karena Belin, Co-Founder WHub and AngelHub, was recognised for her entrepreneurial achievements and contributions to Hong Kong’s startup ecosystem. In her keynote speech on the theme “Navigating a Career in the AI Era”, she stressed the importance of education, curiosity, and a growth mindset in an AI‑driven world, noting that curiosity is not a personality trait but a deliberate choice that future leaders must cultivate. Through her story of why education matters, she reminded students that lifelong learning and purpose are the true foundations of leadership.

Professor Zhang Han, Dean and Chair Professor of the School of Business and President of the HKBU BGS Chapter, officiated the ceremony and underscored that BGS membership represents the highest academic honour for business students, reserved for the top 10% of programmes accredited by AACSB. He also highlighted the School’s distinction as Hong Kong’s only triple‑crown accredited business school, reaffirming the School’s forward‑thinking strategy to nurture future leaders who combine academic excellence with societal impact.

The ceremony concluded with the formal induction of new members and a networking tea reception, offering students meaningful opportunities to engage with faculty members and business leaders. Beyond recognition, the event underscored the values of mentorship, innovation, and global vision that define the School’s business education.
