Students from HKBU School of Business gained first-hand insights into the evolving intellectual property (IP) industry through a visit to CON-CON THE MIX – Blackbox Theatre Moment at Hysan Place on 8 October 2026.

The Blackbox Theatre Moment at CON-CON THE MIX — an extension of the CON-CON Blackbox Theatre created to foster dialogue between industry experts and the next generation of IP talent, where we can co-learn and co-inspire. This is an innovative IP edutainment platform founded by Ms Lovinia Chiu (Lulu), Founder and CEO of Medialink and CON-CON, to empower young talent and industry professionals to connect, exchange ideas, and shape the future of the IP creative economy together.

During the visit, students explored how intellectual property can be transformed from creative concepts into meaningful consumer experiences and sustainable business opportunities. Guided by Ms Renee Sin, Chief Marketing Officer of Medialink Group, participants were introduced to the strategic thinking behind IP development, licensing, brand collaborations, merchandising and experiential marketing.

Students also toured themed areas across Hysan Place, with each floor representing different stages of the customer journey—from discovering IP and building audience engagement to creating experiences that connect creators, brands and consumers.

The visit offered valuable insight into the business dimensions of the creative economy. Chan Long-sik, a Year 4 BBA student in Finance, said it broadened his understanding of how IP can create value beyond original content. He was particularly interested in how licensing, brand partnerships, merchandise and immersive experiences can expand IP. The sharing also deepened his appreciation of IP management’s role in connecting creators, brands and consumers, and introduced him to career opportunities in the industry.

The School is grateful to Ms Bonnie Chow, Associate Professor of Practice, Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems (MMIS) for facilitating the connection with Medialink Group and the CON-CON team. The experience highlights the School’s commitment to experiential learning and industry engagement that prepare students for their future careers.
