On 12 April 2026, HKBU School of Business supported the Charity Run for Little Q, organised by the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association (HKGDA) at Fanling, through its General Education (GE) service-learning course “Canine Service Partners for Inclusive Community”. The large-scale running carnival, themed “Walking with You”, raised funds to train and support guide dogs and animal-assisted intervention dogs, empowering visually impaired individuals and those in need of therapeutic intervention
HKBU students played an active role in the Charity Run by taking charge of 6 booths delivering fun and educational games Their efforts created engaging experiences for participants, reinforcing the event’s mission of inclusivity and community impact. In addition to these student-led initiatives, the carnival featured individual trail races, family trail races and pet obstacle races, and booths offering free health check-ups for doggy participants. The Charity Run attracted almost 1,000 participants and more than 60 dogs.
Through the course, students explore the broader social impact of assistance dogs, learning how canine services contribute to building an inclusive society. The service activities enable the students to actively co-create value with HKGDA, gaining practical experience in event design and implementation, fundraising, and creating values for a diverse community. This service-learning course “Canine Service Partners for Inclusive Community”, co-taught by Dr Jamie Cheung, Associate Head (Teaching) of the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems (MMIS), exemplifies the School’s commitment to transdisciplinary education and nurturing future leaders with global vision, social responsibility, and the drive to create meaningful impact.
