HKBU School of Business and the Alumni Affairs Office co-organised a faculty–students–alumni engagement talk on 6 March 2026, attracting over 320 registrants of academic staff, students and alumni. Titled “From Asset Allocation to Wealth Accumulation: The Practical Application of Financial Planning”, the event offered participants a comprehensive introduction to wealth management strategies and asset allocation.

In his welcoming remarks, Professor Zhang Han, Dean of School of Business, highlighted the School’s interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary initiatives. He emphasised the importance of fostering a vibrant and innovative research environment that addresses complex global challenges while preparing students for the future.

The keynote address was delivered by Professor Billy Mak, Associate Professor of Practice, Department of Accountancy, Economics and Finance (AEF). Professor Mak provided an overview of asset allocation as a cornerstone of long-term wealth management, offering practical insights into financial planning.

A panel discussion followed, featuring Mr Eddy Chan, General Manager, External Affairs Division, Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), and alumnus Dr Anthony Ng (BBA), Co-Founder and CEO of Hong Kong Virtual Asset Exchange. The panel delved into a range of topics, including MPF statistics, asset allocation, and its performance in the MPF platform, as well as the development of digital assets in Mainland China and the future regulatory landscape for virtual assets. The interactive session concluded with a lively Q&A, where participants posed thought-provoking questions that sparked further discussion.

This talk exemplifies the School and Alumni Affairs Office’s commitment to fostering meaningful cross-field engagement.
