HKBU School of Business successfully concluded a five-day study tour to Brunei from 24 to 28 May 2026, with 36 BBA and Master's business students taking part. The School brought students beyond the classroom and into Brunei's business community, offering direct exposure to the country's industries, institutions, and cultural landscape.

The tour featured visits to a range of prominent organisations across different sectors in Brunei. At Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), students gained insight into Islamic finance and the local banking sector. The group also visited the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Brunei to learn about local trade relations and explore collaboration opportunities, where members and representatives warmly received the delegation. The Chamber’s Director of Culture and Education, Mr Sng Teck Ann, highlighted the broad potential for collaboration between Hong Kong and Brunei. He encouraged students to broaden their understanding of the ASEAN region and build meaningful cross-border connections.

On the technology and media front, students visited Imagine Sdn. Bhd., Brunei's leading telecommunications provider to understand its role in supporting Brunei's digital transformation under the Wawasan Brunei 2035 vision. The group also visited D'Sunlit Sdn Bhd, a prominent advertising company, where they observed the production process of multimedia advertising and gained a closer understanding of the industry.

The itinerary also included an academic exchange at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Brunei's oldest public research university. There, students participated in a campus tour and an entrepreneurial mindset activity to deepen their understanding of the learning environment and entrepreneurship in Brunei.

Beyond corporate and academic engagements, participants explored Brunei's rich cultural heritage through visits to the country's most iconic landmarks, natural environments, and local communities.

The study tour brought the School's commitment to life, cultivating globally competent business professionals by fusing experiential learning with deep cross-cultural engagement.
