The HKBU MBA Alumni New Year Gala, organised by the HKBU School of Business and the HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association (MBAAA), took place in Shenzhen in January 2026. The event brought together MBA students, alumni, university leaders, faculty members, and industry partners under the theme “Connecting with Passion, Welcoming the New Year Together.”

A Year of Significant Milestones

Ms Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary of HKBU, opened the gala by highlighting the university's significant achievements in 2025. Key milestones included the launch of the Jockey Club Creative Campus and the operation of Hong Kong’s first HKBU-managed Chinese medicine hospital. She also noted the university's strong performance in global rankings, reaching its highest position in the QS Asia University Rankings since 2016 at 53rd, alongside rankings of 55th in THE Interdisciplinary Science and 69th in THE Impact. Ms Chow concluded with an invitation for alumni to join HKBU’s 70th-anniversary celebrations.

Unveiling the Future of Business Education

Professor Zhang Han, Dean and Chair Professor of the HKBU School of Business, introduced four new Taught Postgraduate programmes designed to cultivate future-ready leaders. The new offerings include: Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Executive MBA (Business + Communication in the AI Age) (EMBA), Master of Science in AI for Business (MScAIB), and Master of Science in Family Office Management (MScFOM).

Professor Monique Wan, Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate Studies), and Professor Zhou Gaoguang, Associate Director of the MBA Programme, were also in attendance to engage with the alumni community.

Celebrating Three Decades of Alumni Excellence

The event also marked the 30th anniversary of the HKBU MBA studies. The occasion celebrated recent national accolades from the 17th China MBA Annual Conference and 2025 Business School Awards. The honours included the “Top 10 Business Schools Award”, “Outstanding MBA Alumni Association Award” and the “Outstanding MBA Mentor Award” presented to Professor Chan Kin-hang, who was additionally recognised as an “Influential Figure in Business Education”.

The HKBU MBA Alumni New Year Gala not only celebrated past achievements but also looked ahead to the future of business education and alumni engagement. With new programmes launched, national accolades earned, and three decades of alumni excellence commemorated, the event underscored the strength of the HKBU MBA community and its continued impact across the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
