The MScBM Class of 2026 gather at the Opening Ceremony, marking the beginning of their postgraduate journey at HKBU School of Business.
HKBU School of Business welcomed the Master of Science in Business Management (MScBM) Class of 2026 at its Opening Ceremony on 31 August 2026. Over 110 students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds joined the event, marking the official take-off of their learning journey.
Held under the theme “My MScBM Journey Begins Here”, the ceremony was officiated by Professor Monique Wan, Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate Studies); Professor Frederick Yim, MScBM Director; Professor Shirley Li, MScBM Associate Director; and various course instructors.
To symbolise the start of their studies, students wrote their MScBM goals on personalised boarding passes and pinned them on the programme’s boarding board—an official check-in to the MScBM Class of 2026.
Professor Frederick Yim kicked off the ceremony with the opening address and a comprehensive programme overview, highlighting the curriculum design and signature features, including Strategic Executive Development, the MScBM Capstone Project, and the Business Field Study. Students were also briefed on key administrative matters and policy guidelines to ensure a smooth start to their studies.
Two alumni shared their MScBM learning journeys. Alumna Dong Lin, Relationship Manager at Huatai Financial Holdings Ltd., shared how the MScBM Programme reshaped her career, enabling a successful cross-industry pivot. She encouraged students to seize every opportunity and step beyond their comfort zones. Alumna Ling Jing, Overseas DTC Manager at Shenzhen Benks Technology Co. Ltd., spoke about the confidence, career skills, and new passions she gained. She urged students to broaden their horizons, connect with peers, and explore Hong Kong during their studies.
Students were also introduced to the dedicated support available. The Mainland and Global Engagement Section (MGES) presented activities designed to foster cross-cultural understanding, while the Career and Alumni Engagement Section (CAES) outlined exclusive resources for business students, ranging from skill-building workshops and one-to-one career consultations to industry networking opportunities and alumni connections.
In the afternoon, the theme took flight with a team-building workshop, “Reach for the Sky”. Working in groups, students simulated the launch of a new airline. By tackling real-world business challenges and assuming various roles, they fostered collaboration, creative problem-solving, and the practical application of business skills.
With their goals set, networks forming, and their teamwork already in motion, the MScBM Class of 2026 has officially embarked on its learning journey at HKBU School of Business.
