The HKBU School of Business marked its 67th Commencement on 11 and 12 June 2026, celebrating the graduating cohort of around 1,400 students from 12 undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes. Held during the University's and School’s 70th anniversary year since 1956, the ceremonies has brought together esteemed guests, graduates and their families and friends.
Professor Zhang Han, Dean and Chair Professor of the School of Business, addressed the Class of 2026, reflecting on the School's achievements and the challenges ahead. "Keep learning, step outside your comfort zone, and stay curious," he urged graduates, encouraging them to embrace the rapid technological change with an open mind.
This year's ceremony introduced a new distinguished speaker session featuring four prominent alumni and adjunct professors from the School of Business:
- Professor Bernard Wu Tak‑lung, a veteran CPA and the Deputy Chairman of Poseidon Hill Capital Limited, an Honorary Court Member of HKBU and the immediate past President of Advisory Committee of Graduate Employment of HKBU, graduated with a BBA in Accounting in 1991. He highlighted ethics, integrity, lifelong learning, and the value of industry connections.
- Professor Nelson Lam Chi‑yuen, JP, Director of Audit of the HKSAR Government, is a practising accountant with over 30 years of experience, and a Legislative Council Member elected in 2022. He is a BBA alumnus in Accounting in 1991. In his speech, he emphasised applying knowledge with social responsibility to benefit the community and contribute to the future development of the nation and Hong Kong.
- Professor Justin Chiu Kwok‑hung, an Executive Director of CK Asset Holdings Limited and Chairman of Prosperity Real Estate Investment Trust Limited, was conferred an honorary doctoral degree by HKBU in 2012. A DBA graduate in Business Administration in 2021, he currently serves as Advisory Committee Chairman at HKBU School of Business. He motivated future‑ready leadership and the integration of technology and liberal arts with ethics and open‑mindedness.
- Professor Sunny Wong Hak‑kun, Honorary University Fellow of HKBU since 2023, is the former CEO and Chairman of Carlsberg Greater China and Tibet Water Resources Limited, and an alumnus of the Diploma in Business Management in 1978 from the former Hong Kong Baptist College. He inspired whole person development and servant leadership, and encouraged graduates to stay true to their aspirations, add colour to the world, and show gratitude to families.
Four valedictorians also took to the stage to share personal stories of growth and aspirations, sending their peers off with cohesiveness and optimism.
The School congratulates the Class of 2026 and entrusts them with confidence, integrity and courage to make a difference in the world. At this special moment of two meaningful milestones, the School looks forward to a bright future co-built with its graduates and alumni community, echoing the 70th anniversary slogan “Act with Faith, Create the Future”.
