HKBU School of Business showcases research excellence by recognising the achievements of its PhD student community at an award presentation ceremony on 28 April 2026. Dr Jin Lan, PhD alumna in Accountancy, AY2024/25, was honoured with the Outstanding Thesis Award for her exemplary research thesis, “Learning Through Your Lenders: Common Lenders and Interfirm Knowledge Transmission”. Her work investigates how shared financial relationships facilitate knowledge transfer between firms, offering valuable insights for corporate strategy and governance. As the first scholar honoured with this newly established School Award—which carries a cash prize of HK$5,000—Dr Jin exemplifies the kind of real-world, impactful research the School is committed to advancing.
The ceremony also highlighted the success of Ms Liu Jiaxin, Year 3 PhD student in Management, AY2025/26, whose paper “Why Does Large Vertical Pay Dispersion Increase Turnover Among Both Employees and Senior Managers?” was published in the journal, Human Resource Management. In recognition of this achievement, she received the School of Business Postgraduate Research Scholarship, with a prize of HK$10,000.
Professor Zhang Han, Dean and Chair Professor of School of Business, presented the certificates to both awardees, commending their contributions to knowledge creation.
The School extends its congratulations to Dr Jin and Ms Liu on their outstanding achievements.
