The Ninth World Finance Forum Annual Conference and Dialogue of Continents 2026 concluded successfully in Hong Kong on 21 May 2026. Themed "In Search of a New Anchor for Stability and Growth", the high‑level gathering brought together delegates from government, business, and academia to explore frontier issues in international economics and finance.
Dr Jeff Zhu, Adjunct Professor of HKBU School of Business and Specially Invited Professor at its Centre for Family Office Management (CFOM), was invited to attend and served as moderator of the dedicated Family Office sub-forum.
The conference was co-hosted by leading international financial institutions and think tanks, underscoring its global influence and prestige. More than 140 prominent guests from around the world attended, including Mr Zhu Guangyao, former Vice Minister of Finance of China; Mr Michael Wong, Acting Financial Secretary; Mr Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury; and Mr Darryl Chan, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. In a video address, Hong Kong Chief Executive Mr John Lee Ka-chiu highlighted Hong Kong's position as Asia's leading and the world's third largest international financial centre, stressing the city’ role in aligning with national development strategies and creating opportunities for global collaboration.
At the Family Office sub-forum, Dr Zhu guided discussions on succession and transformation in family offices, opportunities in Hong Kong, and technology investment across key sectors. Drawing on his academic expertise and extensive industry experience, he facilitated in-depth dialogue among industry guests, shared professional insights, and helped build consensus on advancing Hong Kong's wealth management industry.
Dr Jeff Zhu’s participation and role as moderator at this international forum further enhanced the School’s industry influence and global visibility. During the session, he announced the launch of the MSc in Family Office Management (MScFOM) — the first master’s programme in Hong Kong dedicated to family offices. This milestone reflects the School’s commitment to supporting the national and SAR government’s call to nurture professional talent in wealth management. Moving forward, the School and its CFOM will continue to advance research, cultivate international expertise, and actively engage in high-level global financial forums and exchanges. Through these efforts, the School is poised to strengthen Hong Kong’s family office ecosystem and reinforce the city’s position as a leading international financial centre.
