HKBU School of Business hosted a workshop titled “Navigating the Hong Kong Job Market” on 22 September 2026, providing students with practical strategies and renewed confidence to embark on their career journeys in Hong Kong.

The interactive session encouraged participants to reflect on their feelings about job searching, acknowledging common anxieties while reinforcing the importance of recognising their unique capabilities. The speaker highlighted the role of language proficiency, particularly Cantonese, in the local job market, while emphasising that attitude and willingness to collaborate with colleagues are equally critical to success.

Students were also introduced to popular job boards in Hong Kong and learned effective techniques for identifying opportunities both online and offline. The workshop offered actionable steps to help participants clarify their career aspirations and strategically prepare for securing job offers.

Mr Aiji Umemori, a Year 1 student of the MSc in Finance (Fintech and Financial Analytics) programme, shared: “The session was highly effective in setting us on a proper path for job searching. The speaker acknowledged our anxieties regarding the process, reminded us of our unique capabilities, and provided us with actionable steps to ascertain our career aspirations and strategically work towards securing a job offer.”

Through initiatives such as this workshop, the School continues to support students in developing career readiness, enhancing their confidence, and building clear action plans for success in the Hong Kong job market.
