Spanning across several months for three rounds, the competition challenged participating teams to come up with a full case analysis written report for a specific business case for a corporation. The honoured team, namely Ng Pak Keung (BBA – Accounting, Year 4), So Kin Fung (BBA – Applied Economics, Year 3), Wan Ka Ho (BBA – Accounting, Year 4) and Wong Wing Yan (BBA – Human Resources Management, Year 4), was shortlisted as one of the eight finalist teams to conduct a presentation at the final round. Each of the team members was awarded an internship placement at a renowned corporation, including The Airport Authority Hong Kong, Link Asset Management, MTR and Tricor Services, along with a cash prize and a QP examination fee waiver.
“Beyond-the-classroom exposures are a critical part of our programmes at the HKBU School of Business,” said Dr. Man Ko, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Accountancy and Law who coached the team for oral presentation skills, “Despite the keen competition, the team performed really well by applying the knowledge learnt from textbooks and making use of their critical thinking to solve the case and impress the judges.”
The QP Case Analysis Competition, organised by HKICPA, is an annual challenge that aims at developing students’ business skills, cultivating their professional judgment and preparing them for the business environment. In 2017, the HKBU BBA merit finalist team stood out from around 500 teams from Hong Kong and China.
