HKBU confers Honorary University Fellowship on Dr. David Wong Yau-kar

img Dr. David Wong Yau-kar, a distinguished business leader and a close friend to HKBU and the School of Business, was awarded the Honorary University Fellowship at the HKBU 63rd Convocation today, for his significant contributions to economic and public affairs in Hong Kong over the years. Including Dr. Wong, six distinguished individuals received the honour this year.

Coming from a background with rigorous economic training particularly influenced by Professor and Nobel Laureate Gary Becker, Dr. Wong has not only been a leader in the business sector, but also dedicated to public service. He is currently Managing Director of United Overseas Investments Limited and Chairman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority. Over the years, not least through his public service, he has also contributed to the advancement of trade and investment, advocated a better operating environment for small and medium enterprises, and promoted positive labour relations.

Dr. Wong has harnessed his professional knowledge to nurture the younger generation, for example serving as an Adjunct Professor of the School of Business and as a member of the School of Business Advisory Committee, among his other commitments at HKBU and other education institutions.

Dr. Wong was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government, and is a Hong Kong Deputy to the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China.
