School of Business alumni honored with HKBU Distinguished Alumni Award

School of Business is pleased to announce that three of its alumni, Ms Delia Chan, Mr Philip Tsai and Mr Sunny Wong are to be awarded the fourth Distinguished Alumni Award by Hong Kong Baptist University next month for their ardent support and contributions to the University’s development.
The Award has been established not only to recognise the outstanding business, professional or scholastic achievements of the awardees and their services and contributions to the University and society, but also to motivate current students to learn from their rich experience and success.
Ms Delia Chan
Ms Delia Chan is a successful entrepreneur and a committed educator. She began her career in the textile and garment industry after completing Secretarial and Managerial Studies at Hong Kong Baptist College in 1971. She is currently Managing Director of Famous Horse Holdings Limited which holds a number of companies in various fields. Ms Chan obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science (Chinese Medicine) jointly offered by HKBU and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University in 2005, and a Master of Chinese Medicine at HKBU in 2008. Ms Chan cares deeply about the development of her alma mater. She is Honorary Permanent President and a member of the Alumni Committee of the HKBU Foundation and was conferred an Honorary University Fellowship by HKBU in 2012.
Mr Philip Tsai
Mr Philip Tsai, currently Chairman of Deloitte China, has more than 35 years of experience in planning and managing audits for Hong Kong and multinational corporations. He is a graduate from the Department of Accounting of Hong Kong Baptist College in 1981. He contributes significantly to various government, community and social services. Currently, he is Non-Executive Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority, the Urban Renewal Fund Limited, Member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, the Registration Committee of the Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange, as well as Share Registrars’ Disciplinary Committee of the Securities and Futures Commission. Mr Tsai gives back to the the education sector. He is External Advisor of the Department of Accountancy and Law of Hong Kong Baptist University, and he holds other advisory capacities at sister institutions.
Mr Sunny Wong
Mr Sunny Wong is Executive Director of Tibet Water Resources Limited, a listed company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He graduated from the Department of Business Management of Hong Kong Baptist College in 1978 and obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Bath University in 2001. Mr Wong has more than 30 years experience in the fast-moving consumer goods industry in China, in which 25 years were gained in the beer market. During 2011 and 2014, he was Chairman of Carlsberg Greater China. He cares greatly about his alma mater and is currently Honorary Director and member of the Alumni Committee of the HKBU Foundation, as well as Programme Advisor of the Master of Science in Global Marketing Management Programme of the School of Business.
This year, the Selection Committee for the award was chaired by Mr Cheng Yan-kee, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU, and members included Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, Ms Viola Man, Executive Director of PuraPharm Corporation Limited, Ms Quince Chong, Chief Corporate Development Officer of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, and Dr David Mong, Chairman and Group CEO of Shun Hing Group. Apart from the three alumni who graduated from School of Business, the other awardee is Dr Poon Po-chiu (Chinese Language and Literature).
