BBA students grab third place in regional business competition

img Four BBA students teamed up with students from other HKBU departments in the MonsoonSIM Enterprise Resource Management Competition 2019. On 1st June, they won second runner-up in the Hong Kong final. The team will advance to compete in the international grand final on 10-11 August as one of the top nine finalists representing Hong Kong. There they will be jojned by contestants from regional finals in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

The HKBU team comprises Davis Lee Ka Chun (BBA Finance, Year 3), Sky Pang Yuxin (BBA Applied Economics, Year 3), Jessica Yip Ching Yi (BBA Human Resources Management, Year 2), Sammy Yung Wing Sum (BBA Accounting, Year 2), Emily Jin Qiran and Wayne Zheng Junkai from the Department of Social Work and the Department of Government and International Studies respectively. The competition challenges contestants to run virtual companies and compete against others in an intensive day of contest.

Dr. Aries Wong, lecturer of the Department of Economics and coach of the HKBU team, praised the students’ good teamwork, effective communications and meticulous preparation, which led to impressive results and eventually the third place out of 20 participating teams.

First place in the Hong Kong final was City University of Hong Kong and the first runner-up was Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Other teams in the international final are from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
