img The HKBU MBA team clinched the highest group honour award – the "Sand Gull Award” - and the champion in women’s group in the 8th Asia-Pacific Business School Desert Challenge. The three-day 70 km-challenge was held in the Tengger Desert in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from 27 to 30 April.

The first Asia-Pacific Business School Desert Challenge was organised in 2012 as an annual athletic and cultural event dedicated to the MBA community from top business schools across the APAC region. This year, the HKBU MBA team of 26 participants brought home two prestigious honours with an overall rank of 28 out of the 109 contesting business schools, drawn from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Mainland China and the UK, and it was the only non-China business school that made it into the top 50.

Prof. Huang Xu, Associate Dean (Research & Postgraduate Studies) and Director of the MBA and MSc in Business Management Programmes led the team for the challenge. “The desert adventure challenged us on team work and collaboration, perseverance, responsibility under extreme weather conditions, and reminded us on the importance of environmental protection. These are the values that we share in common. It’s exciting to go outside of the classroom with my students and alumni for this meaningful race. I’m proud of our collective effort that made us go that far together.”
