Lewei was awarded the full scholarship, covering tuition fee, academic and living expenses. She has participated in numerous activities on campus, and has been a devoted volunteer since joining the HKBU School of Business. She has engaged in voluntary work to help educate underprivileged children and serve the disadvantaged in Hong Kong. She has also been developing her leadership skills by enrolling in programmes that allowed her to explore solutions for real-world problems. Lewei was the President of HKBU’s Mandarin Debate Team in 2021-22.
“Volunteering has become a rich part of my university life,” said Lewei, “even after graduation, I’d like to continue participating in activities that are meaningful to society, such as volunteering in UNESCO's education activities, etc. These activities allow me to understand the social issues in Hong Kong and do my part to improve or solve them, which gives me a sense of accomplishment and self-worth.”
Since 1998, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships have been awarded to more than 880 outstanding students from Hong Kong and the Mainland for their intellect, character, leadership qualities and commitment to service. The Undergraduate Scholarship is offered awarded to up to 45 students each year in Hong Kong’s eight University Grants Committee (UGC)-funded institutions and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, with a full scholarship serving as a recognition of academic excellence and dedication to community service.
