Postgraduate students honoured with GRCI Compliance Young Achievement Award
27 Apr, 2018
Two postgraduate students of the HKBU School of Business were honoured with the GRCI Compliance Young Achievement Award 2018 for their outstanding academic performance and exceptional understanding of compliance. An award presentation ceremony was held on 24 April 2018.
The awardees, Cao Yumiao and Ling Kwok Hong are the best performing students of the MSc in Applied Accounting and Finance programme, the first master’s programme in Hong Kong with the “Financial Regulations and Compliance” module recognised by the GRC Institute (GRCI), one of the world’s largest professional bodies in compliance providing opportunities for students to obtain professional certification. The awardees are entitled to a full scholarship to enrol in the GRCI course “Certificate IV in Compliance & Risk Management”, an internationally-recognised qualification in the compliance field, with a two-year complimentary membership.
Ling, a part-time Year 2 student, was thankful for the recognition. “Compliance professionals are in increasingly high demand as regulations on both financial and non-financial businesses are stricter than ever. The programme has provided us with real-world case studies and practical insights from professors. These have formed a solid foundation for me to further develop my career along the compliance and regulator path.”
Cao, a full-time Year 1 student, said the award is an unexpected reward from the programme. “I am looking for a career change from a former investment analyst to a compliance professional, so this programme has opened up new doors for me. This award and the GRCI recognition will become strong testimony for me to prove my knowledge and understanding of the field to my future employers.”
