Two BBA Teams Win Merit Team Awards at the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) Business Case Competition 2023

Two teams, consisting four BBA students from the HKBU School of Business, achieved remarkable success in the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) Business Case Competition 2023 held on November 25, 2023. Out of 118 teams in the undergraduate category, these teams were ranked among the top 8 and earned two merit team awards. Their outstanding performance not only earned them well-deserved cash prizes but also opened up internship opportunities for them. The student teams included NG Shiu Him (Year 3, BBA Accounting), WAN Ting Cheung Kevin (Year 3, BBA Accounting), CHOW Ho Yin (Year 3, BBA Accounting), TANG Chui Yan (Year 3, BBA Accounting), CHAN Hei Nga Alyssa BBA (Year 2, BBA Information Systems and Business Intelligence), CHEUNG Ka Ting (Year 3, BBA Accounting), LAU Min Kit (Year 3, BBA Accounting), CHAN Chun Chim (Year 2, BBA Finance).

The teams competed against over 100 teams from multiple educational backgrounds across the Mainland China and Hong Kong, where they acted as business consultants and prepared a business proposal to evaluate business strategy, to analyse performance management programme and to evaluate potential acquisition targets in the gaming industry.

The students expressed their gratitude for the guidance of their team coach, Ms. Janet KWAN, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Accountancy, Economics, and Finance. Ms. KWAN made great efforts in reviewing proposals and facilitating oral presentations for the teams. Additionally, Dr. Man KO, Associate Head (Teaching), provided valuable on-site coaching and guidance to the student teams during the final competition, as well as assisting with the facilitation of the oral presentations.

The HKICPA Business Case Competition has been running for over 20 years, providing students with the opportunity to utilize their academic competencies and business know-how to cultivate professional judgment and enhance their global perspectives.
