In pursuit of strengthening ties, a HKBU School of Business delegation, led by Prof. Yuk-shing CHENG, Interim Dean of the School of Business, visited the United International College (UIC), a joint venture of the Beijing Normal University and the Hong Kong Baptist University, on 27th May, 2024. 

UIC’s President, Prof. Zhi CHEN, welcomed the delegation and proposed a multifaceted collaboration between UIC and HKBU, aligning with UIC’s unique “one university, two campuses” model. The proposed collaboration encompassed student exchange programmes, joint teaching, research cooperation, resource sharing, and dual faculty appointments. Additionally, Prof. Patrick CHAU, UIC’s Provost, and Prof. Adolf NG, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), introduced the ongoing developments and achievements of UIC and its FBM.

Prof. CHENG, representing the HKBU School of Business, expressed high recognition for UIC’s recent strides in campus construction, discipline development, and talent cultivation. He highlighted HKBU’s relentless pursuit of interdisciplinary research and outlined the future direction of its School of Business’s curriculum, focusing on artificial intelligence literacy, ESG, and business application of new technologies. He also pointed out that the School will maintain its commitment to conducting world-leading research and place more emphasis on generating meaningful research impact.

The visit was marked by an in-depth discussion involving representatives from both institutions, exploring how to leverage respective strengths and resources to create a win-win cooperation. Alongside Prof. CHENG, the School’s delegation included Mr. Ryan MAN, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies); Dr. Monique Shui-Ki WAN, Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate Studies); Dr. Byron SONG, Department Head of Accountancy, Economics and Finance (AEF); Dr. Song CHANG, Department Head of Management, Marketing and Information Systems (MMIS); and Dr. Jamie CHEUNG, Senior Lecturer of MMIS. They actively participated in the discussion, contributing a wealth of expertise and insights.

As the day drew to a close, the delegation explored UIC’s research facilities and learning centres, departing with a sense of anticipation.
