The HKBU School of Business and School of Communication jointly hosted the Masters Information Day x i-ConNet Career Expo 2025 on 7th April 2025, attracting over 2000 attendees to connect around 100 leading employers. Nearly 12% of the featured employers at the Career Expo were from Mainland China, offering positions both in Hong Kong and the Mainland. Themed “i-Explore, i-ConNet, i-Shine in the era of AI”, the event provided a platform for participants to explore both schools’ postgraduate programmes, gain insights into career pathways and industry trends, and make connections with industry partners and employers.

Prof. Han ZHANG, Dean of the School of Business, warmly greeted attendees and emphasised the event's dual mission: connecting academic excellence with industry needs while showcasing HKBU's talent pipeline to top employers. He noted, “In an AI-disrupted world, the most valuable professionals won’t just adapt to change — they’ll drive it. We cultivate strategic thinkers who innovate across boundaries in ESG, Web3, and sustainable finance. Employers need visionaries who connect technology, business, and human impact — precisely what the School of Business nurtures.”

Prof. Bu ZHONG, Dean of the School of Communication, also stressed the importance of nurturing talent who can shine in the era of AI. He described the Career Expo as the latest example of the transdisciplinary collaboration between both Schools, “The world today faces unprecedented complexity, and that the challenges ahead demand collaborative, interdisciplinary solutions. By integrating our strengths from both Schools, we empower students with a holistic skillset, enabling them to thrive regardless of industries and roles.”

Participants engaged in various practical sessions designed to bolster career development. A highlight was the pioneering AI mock job interview, a first for any Hong Kong university. Offered in Cantonese, English, and Putonghua, this innovative experience simulated a realistic 20-minute interview scenario, with an AI interviewer dynamically generating questions in real-time based on interviewees’ responses. Participants received an AI-generated report detailing their strengths and areas for improvement, boosting their confidence and preparing them for real-world interviews.

Additionally, attendees took advantage of practical sessions like “Reimagining the Future of PR”, featuring insights from PRPA's Vice President on current industry trends. Personalised resume advice was available at the Walk-in CV Clinic, while the “HR Lens” session offered tips on crafting compelling CVs and excelling in interviews. A "Wine Education & Career Development" session added a distinctive touch, blending professional skills with wine appreciation.

The Expo also showcased HKBU's forward-looking Master's programmes designed to equip graduates for the AI-driven future. The School of Business highlighted its industry-relevant offerings, including the MSc in Finance (FinTech and Financial Analytics), which develops finance leaders fluent in both algorithmic trading and strategic decision-making; the MSc in Corporate Governance and Compliance, which prepares directors to navigate AI's ethical complexities; and the MSc in Marketing for the Creative Economy, which reimagines brand strategy for digital-native consumers.

The event successfully connected students and alumni with potential employers while showcasing HKBU’s career-focused Master's programmes. Prospective students can learn more about the School of Business' Taught Postgraduate Programmes at: https://bit.ly/4dwbqED.
